If I had a nickel for every time somebody has tried to tell me how cool this thing is in the past 24 hours...
What do you guys think of the new iPhone that rolled out at WWDC '08 yesterday? I personally think it's 90% hype, 9% useless features, and 1% actual phone, though I'm curious to see if anybody's considering one and why.

I like the one I have.
Never wanted a cell phone in the first place.

I saw parts of that while I was unpacking my WoW Battlechest I finally got but can't use until Friday.
I like the commercial. But that's because I'm an artist and geek out over stuff like that, and not the actual object of the advertisement.
The phone can go suck on a dude because I don't care for things that are all touchscreen. Then again I don't like a lot of things that are accepted in the general norm, so whatever.

I do not wish to conform to Apple or it's products.
Plus, iphones are shitty, and I just need the neccessities.

Plus, iphones are shitty, and I just need the neccessities. Now that's something I wish people would admit more than they do. Everybody's quoted me that the iPhone does this, that, and the next thing, even if I could really care less. So let's see, as it stands now, I can't run the current-gen iPhone on the T-Mobile network that I'm on now without jailbreaking it. The iPhone 3G is a CDMA handset, so I can't take it out of the country and still call it a phone. That's also going to make it harder for future phones to be jailbroken, since CDMA doesn't use SIM cards, and even then I'd still be locked to Verizon, Sprint, or Alltel (which is going to be Verizon soon). With the new contracting terms I'd be forced to buy an iPhone with EVDO service, which drives the price of service up by about $40/month (according to my friend who uses Verizon with a Treo 650). I have a Motorola v60i GSM. I like it so much that I bought it to replace my Motorola v60i AMPS when they shut off the AMPS cell network... See that kids? It's a black-and-white, three-line screen! XD

XD YOU STOLE MY OLD PHONE, YOU BITCH!! D8< I kid, of course. Naturally, I must keep the fact that the iPhone is being made available to Verizon for as long as possible (which, with internet and such, is maybe about as long as I can flail in his face, maybe four seconds), because that had been the only thing keeping my brother from blowing even more of his money on an iPhone. (Note that he already blew what money he had on not one but two furry conventions, and didn't even buy a present for his sister, who just turned eighteen). B:

Heh, is that really the phone you used to have?
I tried to keep my dad from blowing money on an HTC Touch, which is essentially a ripoff lookalike of the iPhone that runs Windows Mobile. Unfortunately that didn't work so well...

I'm a bit unsure but it looks just like it: a Motorola flipphone, with the same buttons and everything...tell me, was it thick with a really fat battery? I've had my RAZR for about a year, more than, so I can't really remember...

I suppose by today's standards both of them are thick... If I knew where my tape measure was I'd tell you just how thick.

I'd overguestimate it at at least an inch, maybe more.
